Ketaki
Pandit
- Age 20 years, She was visually impaired since birth.
She had loss of central vision. She could not complete
her studies because of the visual impairment. She tried
with number of doctors but she was told "Nothing
can be done to improve your sight".
Thus KETAKI did not have a thin ray of hope of getting
back her normal sight. When the medical treatment which
she got from various experts and under different therapies,
fail to evoke any positive and favorable response her
hopes were totally shattered and the total frustration
ruled her delicate mind. But that proved to be only a
bad patch in her life.
She was destined to recover from this trauma when good
counsel prevailed and she followed the advice of her beloved
parents, to approach us and try of low visiondevices developed
by our centre. |

The
result was instant. By using CCTV system she could read beyond
headlines of newspaper. For many years she had a practice of reading
only headlines. This not only removed the physical hardship, which
she had all these years but also the totally faced mental agony,
which has crippled her delicate mind. There is now a seachange
in her mental set up and approach towards life. Her mother and
family members are very happy now. |

RAUT - AGE
29 years. He came from village had visual disability from
birth. Because of the visual disability he could not continue
his education. He had strong desire to learn. We prescribe
him A simple stand magnifier and reading stand. This was
useful for him and he can read smallest print now. Anil
is a living example of a person who has got back his opportunity
to pursue studies with help of L.V. Devices. |

- Research Scientist, Age 67 years, He had a brain tumor
and after the operation, lost his vision for reading. 7
years he could not read a single letter. When he tried our
CCTV systems he found a new hope that he could read his
own research paper with this device. |

Unfortunately, these are also examples of "Patients not getting
very simple, low cost appropriate treatment to their visual problem."
We hope that we can create awareness and educate all concerned
people in EYE CARE about the new option of simple and adaptable
technology of "Low Vision Devices" in rehabilitation
of visually impaired persons. This will help to achieve desired
target under "Vision 2020"
